God's workmanship!

I have a souvenir from King Tut’s treasures! It’s a one of a kind! There is not another like it in the entire world!

I was in Chicago in 1975 or 1976 as a guest of my former 6th grade teacher. We were touring the King Tut exhibit at the Field Museum. People were everywhere. Some had been standing in line for more than 10 hours. We received special treatment … my friend was a member of the museum and we were able to go right in to see the exhibit. I rounded this one corner and I saw a room jammed with people. It was lit with special lighting, it was guarded by security guards.

When I finally got into that room, there it was … pure gold, glistening in the light. Treasures from the past. Now, you can't buy the treasures of King Tut; they are literally priceless. But! I bought the King’s golden chair for .25c that day! Oh, yes I did. It's in a trunk at home I could show it to you.

Well, actually it's a post card of the golden chair. It’s only a cheap picture of King Tut’s chair, that’s all; but the one in the museum is an original, priceless!

Did you know that you're a one-of-a-kind original masterpiece? You may not feel like you're a masterpiece. Maybe you’re not treated like a masterpiece, but the One who designed you says that's exactly what you are.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. (Eph 2:10)

Did you see that? God's workmanship! Now, put your name in there, "____________ is God's workmanship." You're unique! You're priceless … unless you become a copy of someone else, in that case you’ll be a cheap copy.

You've probably had plenty of messages in your life that has made you feel more like the post card than the masterpiece. Maybe you've been rejected, ignored, hurt, or used. And because of all those negative messages, you have this lie playing in your brain - "you're not worth much; you can't do much; you're not good enough." Just remember this my friend it is not others who determine what you're worth, It is your Designer.

Your worth isn’t determined by how much you make, or your job title you, or whether anyone asks you out or not - you ARE God's workmanship. Those three words, "in Christ Jesus", point us in the direction of our worth. In Jesus you finally realize how much you're worth. You don't know who you are until you're in the hands of the one who loves you most He paid for your sin with His life. He died for you. That's how much He thinks your worth! You are priceless!
